Catharine Bushman

Catharine Sinon Bushman is currently pursuing the DMA in Wind Conducting at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to coming to UT, she was the Associate Director of Bands at Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia for nine years.

Mrs. Sinon Bushman holds degrees in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Northwestern University. Her primary clarinet teachers were Laura Ardan of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Lawrie Bloom of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She served as Drum Major for the "Wildcat" Marching Band and performed with the band in the 1996 Rose Bowl and 1997 Citrus Bowl. In 1996, Catharine was the Head Drum Major for the Atlanta Olympic Band, a 300-member marching band that performed at opening and closing ceremonies.

Catharine is nationally certified in music by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and hold professional memberships in the College Band Directors National Association and Texas Music Educators Association. She maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician for marching and concert bands, and has served in these capacities in numerous states. In 2009, she presented a clinic at the TMEA Conference, sharing her research on a successful band program in a disadvantaged southwest Texas community.
